About Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro reaches 5,895 metres at Uhuru Peak, making it Africa's highest mountain and the world's tallest free-standing peak. It is climbed via several established routes including Marangu, Machame, Lemosho and Rongai, with longer routes aiding acclimatisation.

The mountain passes through distinct ecological zones, from cultivated foothills and rainforest to moorland, alpine desert and the glaciated summit. Day hikes onto the lower slopes are possible without a full ascent.
