Day by day

Day 1
Drive or fly from Nairobi to Amboseli. Afternoon drive as the light softens on the swamps where elephant herds gather to feed and bathe. Day 2: Full day in the park. Clearest views of Kilimanjaro are usually at dawn and dusk, so drives are timed to catch elephants crossing in front of the mountain. Midday break during the harsh light. Day 3: Morning drive plus a visit to a viewpoint over the observation hill for the wider swamp system. Optional visit to a local Maasai community (arranged with fair, direct payment to the group). Day 4: Final dawn drive, then return to Nairobi.
